5 Ways To Use Coconut Oil | stRIDE Spin & Fitness

WE. LOVE. COCONUT OIL. There are so many ways we can use it, eat it, and love it. Obviously, when we find something that we love we have to share it with our #stRIDERS. Remember the days that we thought fats were bad for us? THANK GOD that time is over because coconut oil is everything.

 

The breakdown on coconut oil: coconut oil is the extract from the edible coconut meat that is in the center of a coconut. Coconut oil is a saturated fatty acid, this specific type of fat can deliver energy to the body, which is why we love it. It also is a natural lubricant, which is why it is great to soften hair and skin in addition to consumption benefits.

Our favorite ways to use it

 

Body Moisturizer

Did you know when coconut oil heats up in melts into liquid oil? Rub some coconut water in between your hands and use it to soften all areas of your skin!

 

Coco Buns

Similar to skin moisturizer, coconut oil is the BEST natural hair mask. Apply liquid coconut oil to the lower half of you head and leave it in for 2-12 hours. Our personal favorite is applying the coconut oil to the hair, putting our hair up in a bun, taking a quick spin class (the heat keeps the oil wet and is amazing for your hair), then shower it all out for soft and shiny hair!

 

Coconut Oil Coffee
By adding a tablespoon of coconut oil into your daily morning coffee will keep you fuller so much longer! This will also give you additional energy that will not give you a mid day crash in the way a typical cup of coffee does.

 

Teeth Whitening

Place one teaspoon of coconut oil in your mouth and swish it around for 10-20 minutes, then brush your teeth like normal. Coconut oil pulls any toxins out of your mouth, which is what can cause discolored teeth.

 

Coconut Oil Salad Dressing

Stay fuller longer with this DIY salad dressing!

The Recipe:

⅔ cups of melted coconut oil

⅓ cup of olive oil

⅓ cup of vinegar

2 tbsp of lemon juice

1 clove of garlic

½ teaspoon of dried oregano

½ tsp of sea salt

¼ tsp of pepper

 

Mix all ingredients and enjoy!
